Sr. Joanne Mauro was honored by the Dowling Catholic High School Art Department on the Day of the Dead, Saturday, October 29, 2016. The traditions of the Day of the Dead celebration are rooted in pre-
Spanish Mexico and in Catholic rituals. Each year in Mexico on November 1st and 2nd, people celebrate the spirit of loved ones that have passed on. Pictured to the left, along with items that Sister owned, are small skeletons vignettes representing Sister doing the things she enjoyed while she was alive, showing her zest for life. Over 150 friends and family honored Sr. Joanne who passed way just over a year ago.
God Bless You Sister
